IT Support Technician
£26,000 - £28,000 depending on experience plus excellent benefits.
Based on-site at our Birmingham Study Centre
The Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting for an IT Support Technician to be based at our Birmingham Study Centres. Our ideal candidate would have great customer service skills in order to provide outstanding support to our colleagues and students. You will also need to have good technical skills in order to resolve any user issues that arise across the business, you will be the sole IT Support in your location which will enable you to be responsible for a wide range of technical problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Be key in providing outstanding localised and remote support to our growing portfolio of UK based study centres and offices taking ownership of first and second line issues and service requests for staff and students for all technical matters.
- Resolve on the ground issues with computer & AV hardware and software, taking responsibility for managing incoming support requests both in person and remotely.
- Deliver user training and encourage company best practice as well as enforce policy, to staff and students across all of the University’s Study Centres and offices.
About You:
We would like to hear from applicants who can demonstrate these skills and experience:
- Vocational qualifications (NVQ 2-3, City & Guild) or equivalent, plus some experience in a relevant role OR Considerable work experience in a relevant role/relevant life experience.
- Proficient in using and supporting Microsoft operating systems and applications.
- Comfortable explaining technical solutions to all levels of users within a business environment.
- Demonstrable experience of using an ITSM ticketing system Ability to multitask and prioritise / re-prioritise.
- Awareness of data protection principles e.g. GDPR.
- A fundamental understanding and appreciation of a variety of underlying web technologies.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- ITIL Qualifications.
- Technical accreditation's e.g. Microsoft MCSA / Cisco CCNA / etc.
- Experience working within an IT customer support environment, preferably within the education sector.
- Experience of working with AV equipment Experience working in the Higher Education sector.
