We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established IT Support and Managed Service provider based in London, N1 7GU, where you will gain valuable experience as a Level 3 Information Communications Technician, following the Support Technician pathway. We pride ourselves on the support we give our apprentices, you won’t be left on your own to figure things out, we will support you throughout your apprenticeship journey together with your employer!

About the role:

We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible, and reliable 1st line IT Support Engineer apprentice to join our growing IT Support team as a 1st line IT Support Engineer and support our customers.

Joining our team of experts will help you grow your technical knowledge on networking, security, cloud services, get involved in IT project and give you a wide exposure on various technologies and tools we use.

You will be a key member of our team as a first point of contact of our technical support lines. You will be working in a busy office and duties as a key member of our team as a first point of contact of our technical support lines. Your activities include the following under the guidance of Helpdesk Engineers.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide Telephone, Remote and in house support starting with raising a ticket, and hand onto first leading to second line support. In time, taking on more direct responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Provide 1st line support to technical customer queries via phone, email and face-to-face contact including
    • Requirements gathering
    • Incidents qualification and recording to ticketing system
    • Initial investigation
  • Provide office-based configuration of hardware and software for new build PCs, prepping them for site install.
  • Carry out basic office duties which can include receiving deliveries and helping the team, but also to accompany engineers to site for site-based training.
  • Assist site engineers with installs and network deployments
  • Key tasks:
    • Answering IT support calls from helpdesk phone line
    • Understanding user requirements, qualifying request, logging request in our ticketing system
    • Troubleshooting first line technical issues
    • Assisting the technical team with PCs set ups
    • Assisting with ongoing monitoring tasks

The training you'll be provided with:

  • Training for all pathways of your IT career (support technician, network technician, digital communications technician)
  • Specialising in a portfolio of evidence for the Support Technician pathway
  • Access to uCertify training platform; core learning materials, assessments, and practical hands-on-labs

  • Bi-weekly virtual classroom training on the CompTIA vendor qualifications
  • Monthly work-based coaches visits and competency checks
  • Primary Goal Support desk for technical support

You will also have the opportunity to network with a range of other apprentices on our programme who can share ideas, offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other!

As one of our apprentices you will also have access to our online portal that will provide you with information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.

We are looking for someone who:

  • You will need to demonstrate good clear communication and customer service skills, especially over the telephone.
  • Highly organised and focused.
  • Hold an interest in Computing and changes in the IT industry.
  • Determination to provide fast, high-quality support services.
  • Committed attitude towards a first-class customer service
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A technical understanding of PC's and common operations.
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 & 11 Operating Systems.

Working Week:

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.

Salary:

£13,000

Desired Qualifications:

We require someone who is educated to GCSE standard English and Maths grade 4 (or above), or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.

Expected Duration:

15 months and 4 Months End Point Assessment
