Established IT Services Company based in Chester are looking for an IT Support Field Engineer to join their expanding team, providing a primary on-site presence maintaining client' systems.
You will be required to carry out work at our head offices in Chester as well as client premises throughout the North West region and on occasions throughout the UK. You will also be required on occasion to work within our two datacentres which are in Chester and Leeds.
This is an important role within the company and the successful candidate will have an input into a wide variety of projects. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure within IT and expand your knowledge across a wide range of technologies.
The role
Providing on-site customer support to maintain clients’ coverage of IT systems, including but not limited to servers, client PC’s/Laptops, printers and networks.
- Performing on-site installation, upgrade and servicing of products
- Hardware build, fault finding and replacement including but not limited to PCs/Laptops/Printers/Hard Drives
- Software installation
- Installation. maintainable and testing of Cat5/Cat6 cabling
- Hosted VoIP Setup & Installation
- Contributing to the installation and support of new IT products and services
- Maintaining extensive customer details within our Support Portal and making sure that these are kept up to date at all times
- Liaising with clients about their systems and offering ideas and proposals of ways to improve client systems and networks to both the client and the managing director
- To be part of the 24/7 on call rota
- Be willing to undertake training on bespoke software and hardware partnerships that the company have
- Maintaining and updating procedures and plans
- Working alongside engineers on projects and installations
The person
- 1 years’ experience in a similar IT/Support role
- Strong Windows and Microsoft based knowledge
- Microsoft 365 knowledge
- Troubleshooting skills
- Excellent customer service
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Flexible approach to work and able to work under pressure
Experience Required
- 1+ years in a technical support or field engineer role within a Managed Service Provider or IT Support environment
- Hands-on experience of network design, implementation and troubleshooting including cabling installation
- Some Linux experience is desirable but is not essential
- Some virtualisation experience is desirable but is not essential
- Some ISP experience with services such as Broadband, email hosting is desirable but is not essential
Full UK Driving License is essential
