IT Support Field Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small but successful team at a well established IT Support company. This role is based from our office in Bolton, however, you will be required to carry out customer visits around the North West in a company vehicle.
The company has been providing IT support services and technology solutions around Greater Manchester for over 30 years.
Roles & duties
- Work as part of our team to provide technical support for our clients existing hardware and software installations and resolve as soon as reasonable possible.
- Answer client phone calls & emails and update a ticketing system, ensuring the call/job has been logged and all notes, progress and required actions have been input promptly and accurately.
- Attend client sites to provide on site IT Support including troubleshooting & new hardware/software installations
- Identifying additional customer requirements even if they are outside of contracted support and notify Account Manager
- Build, configure and install new hardware when required
- Install, configure and support applications such as Windows Server, Microsoft 365, SharePoint
- Work on projects with the client through to completion.
- Promote proactive support & respond to alerts from our monitoring software to minimise downtime and prevent errors reoccurring
- Maintain system security
- Install structured network cabling
- Install & maintain VOIP phone systems
Skills & requirements
An ideal IT Support Field engineer will hold the following skills and experiences:
- Minimum 2 years experience working in an IT support environment
- Strong Microsoft 365 knowledge
- Good understanding of Microsoft Server products & related applications & services
- Strong Windows 10/11 knowledge
- Friendly attitude when dealing with clients in person & on the phone
- Be able to demonstrate your ability to work as part of a team to resolve potentially complex issues, but also work on your own to perform installations and project work when required.
- Experience with our core products including firewalls, routers, network switches, wireless solutions
- Previous experience with VOIP phone systems
- Knowledge of web / email filtering
- Be pro-active in up-skilling other members of the service desk team
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable skills (but not essential)
Microsoft Certification including MCP / MCITP / MCSE
The standard working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm, however you will be expected to be flexible. Overtime may be required and will be paid accordingly.
Salary of £25,000 - £30,000 based on candidate suitability, qualifications and experience. We very rarely travel outside of the North West area and have a flexible working environment. You will receive a company mobile phone, company laptop and use of a company vehicle.
