IT Support Engineer - Newcastle

Job Description:

What you will get up to day to day

• Taking ownership of support requests through to resolution, using remote management tools, desk side assistance and/or the telephone.
• Ensuring all support requests are successfully and accurately identified, categorised, prioritised, diagnosed and managed in the ticketing system.
• Configuring and deploying user IT assets, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices and software.
• Ensuring all user IT assets are secured with latest updates for the operating system, anti-virus and malware protection.
• Maintaining the asset inventory to ensure all equipment and software is accounted for.

We are looking for someone who

• Is able to communicate with users at all levels to understand incidents and provide appropriate support methods.
• Has good problem solving skills; with an ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
• Has experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Desktop technologies.
• Has a knowledge of ITIL framework.
  

Some of the key responsibilities

• Contributing towards the maintenance of the knowledge base and self-help portal for documented processes, routine tasks and incident resolutions.
• Ensuring support requests are acknowledged and resolved to the users’ satisfaction within the agreed timescales.
• Ensuring new IT assets are deployed to users in accordance with the replacement schedule.
• Ensuring all user IT assets are updated with necessary security patches within the agreed timescales.
• Ensuring assets are maintained and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure they are functioning effectively.
