Glasgow Caledonian University’s IT department is a central professional service department that provides IT services to all GCU campuses across the UK and USA. The IT department supports the University by delivering technology-based services for research, teaching and learning, to enable on and off-campus learning and engagement.
We are currently seeking an IT Support Engineer, who will be responsible for delivering customer focused front-line IT support services to staff and students within GCU. This role involves the provision of support through multiple channels of communications, i.e. face-to-face customer support through AV, Desktop and Network Services, to remote assistance.
The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of providing technical and operational support, covering a full range of IT hardware, software and AV equipment, used within teaching and events environments. The candidate should also have excellent communication skills and previous experience in a customer focused work environment, ideally in HE and/or student facing.
The successful candidate should hold a HNC/HND in IT/AV or related discipline, and/or equivalent relevant experience in an IT technical support role. They should also have the ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple activities and deliver effectively within a busy environment.
Ideally, the successful candidate would have ITIL foundation or equivalent IT service management training and knowledge and experience of University / Higher Education use of AV equipment and systems.
