Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021.
As an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Performs all duties of an Information System Security Officer as directed by and under the supervision of the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with minimal direction.
- Provides regular reports as instructed or per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- Performs maintenance of the Accreditation Package in eMASS.
- Provides control response to support the accreditation package with the goal of obtaining accreditation for new systems and maintaining accreditation for existing systems.
- Creates, updates, and validates system documentation to support recovery and provide evidence of security controls.
- Creates, updates, and tracks the status of Plans Of Action and Milestones (POAM) both in eMASS and tracking actual progress of tasks by System Administrator, vendor roaming staff, or Agency IT.
- Runs and analyzes scheduled reports to support monitoring system security and functional operation.
- Conducts research, analysis, lab testing, and documentation.
- Schedules patching, repairs, upgrades, and new system installation with the vendor, Agency IT, and other stakeholders.
- Performs escort duties as needed to support these activities.
- Inspects completed work.

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
- Experience managing an accredited IT system.
- Experience preparing and maintaining the requisite documentation for an IT system Authority to Operate.
- Experience interacting with Agency Counterintelligence Operations (CIO) on IT related topics.
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
- Experience assisting with an accredited IT system.
- Experience assisting with preparing and maintaining the requisite documentation for an IT system Authority to Operate.
- Experience assisting with the interaction of Agency Counterintelligence Operations (CIO) on IT related topics.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Other Notes:
Shift work and on-call duty is required to meet Agency operational support requirements to the warfighter during contingency and exercise operations that may include weekends and holidays as required.
Work may require travel away from the normal duty station and on military or commercial aircraft (15% CONUS/OCONUS).

Must obtain and/or hold an Information Assurance Manager (IAM) Level III certification. Failure to maintain IAM certification may result in the termination of employment. New hires' must obtain the appropriate certification within six (6) months of being assigned IA functions beginning the date they start in the position. Current DoD employees and contractors performing IA functions on the effective date of hire have up to four (4) years to comply with the certification requirements.
