Job description
An IT specialist or research engineer is sought to support the Adaptive Brain Lab (http://www.abg.psychol.cam.ac.uk), a research team of 10-15 members based at the Department of Psychology, University of Cambridge, UK. The role is to ensure effective and efficient function of the computing infrastructure for research at the Adaptive Brain Lab in co-ordination with the University's Information Services. The lab comprises an international and interdisciplinary mix of neuroscientists and data scientists and has strong links with researchers in Computer Science and Engineering as well as with industrial partners. The post holder will support research in the lab: a) maintaining and integrating computing hardware and experimental equipment, b) ensuring secure data storage and access, c) software development and collaboration with research engineers for the development of tools for clinical applications.
This post will suit an enthusiastic, self- motivated candidate who is keen to develop IT skills and progress their career within a cross-disciplinary research environment that bridges cutting-edge research in brain and data science with translation to clinical applications.
A bachelor's (or higher) degree (in computer science, engineering, math or other related field), Level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent level of experience is required. Strong computer programming skills (Matlab, Python, C) are desirable.
Excellent organization skills, the ability to provide training and support to others, work collaboratively in a team and maintain strong local and international working relationships are essential.
Limited funding: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
