Job description
This is a new role at Apex Hotels where you’ll join our expanding IT team as IT Services and Support Engineer. The IT Services and Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure. Including the installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of operating systems and application software. The IT Services and Support Engineer will also play a part in projects across the business.
This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of 3 days a week in the office and on call support of 1 week in 4. This role supports all of our business areas in London, Bath, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. The role is based in Edinburgh, however it has responsibility for supporting the group on-site and remotely therefore may require travel to England and across Scotland.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Technology Director, you’ll provide 2nd line support to our internal customers by liaising with the IT Team and external IT Helpdesk to resolve queries in a timely manner. You’ll also:
- Work with the IT team to develop new strategies for the further development of the IT Infrastructure.
- Maintain and assisting with the development of the Windows Infrastructure within the business.
- Conduct software deployment and configuration.
- Working with system owners to ensure appropriate standards and process are adhered to.
- Keeping documentation and inventory up to date.
- Periodic scans and audits of Wi-Fi and internal systems ensuring compliance with data security and IT related company standards.
- Assist in the configuration, deployment, and repair of company devices.
- Assist with day-to-day security checks and procedures.
- Configure and maintain the internal Endpoint Management Solution.
- Assist with Backup configuration and monitoring.
- Working with 3rd party system vendors.
About you:
We are looking for someone who has the drive and determination to work in a fast paced and changing environment. You’ll also have:
- Degree in IT related subject, or equivalent professional qualifications/experience.
- Experience in an IT support environment.
- Excellent working knowledge of Windows infrastructure, including Hyper -V and Windows server.
- Good knowledge of networking principles – (LAN, IPv4, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, Managed Switches, VLANs).
- In depth knowledge and experience of supporting the Microsoft Office 365 suite (MS Office, Teams, SharePoint).
- Strong technical background with an ability to give instructions to a non-technical audience.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory.
- Previous working knowledge of backup solutions.
