Job description
The Calisen Group is in an exciting and strong position where we are seeing growth and development in all areas of the business. As a result of this growth, an exciting opportunity has become available for a Contract IT Project Manager who will be responsible for building, managing & implementing projects across Calisen ensuring that outputs are delivered within time, cost & quality constraints.
Using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, the scope of the role includes IT and business implementations, and ranges from managing multiple small projects to leading a large transformation programme, so previous experience in transformation projects is essential.
This is a contract role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday on a hybrid basis working from home, with travel to our Manchester and/or Wigan offices at least 2 days per week. The rate is to be discussed with the successful candidate up to £500 per day based on experience & qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and co-ordinating the activities of multiple projects, including balancing priorities of team members with commitments to business as usual activities.
- Demonstrable experience of robustly managing projects, leveraging both waterfall and agile techniques to best suit the needs of the initiative
- Produce consumable stakeholder reporting, dependency management and resource forecasting
- Excellent interpersonal skills to act as a single point of contact for senior stakeholders in relation to projects and proactively reaching out to other teams to influence and shape their thinking / actions to enable project delivery.
- Create, manage & implement project plans, plus overseeing & reviewing project plans by the other members of the team.
- Able to negotiate at senior level on technical and commercial issues, to ensure that suppliers and other stakeholders align with the objective and timeframes
- Takes budgetary responsibility for each project phase & has responsibility for providing reliable work estimates.
- Liaise with senior management across Calisen to define and manage project workloads through the established priorities process.
- Improving standards and methodologies with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaising with internal and external clients on a regular basis both on and off site (where applicable).
- Identification and management of project risks & issues.
- Adherence to quality management standards for project delivery.
- Active engagement in Change / IT governance mechanisms.
- This role may also require line management responsibility including organisation of staff coverage including sickness & holidays, mentoring the performance of team members tackling any issues that may arise and conducting Return to Work interviews when needed.
What we are looking for
- Good standard of education at a-level standard or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience personally managing major projects through the full lifecycle - from initiation and planning, through to operational readiness and handover with exposure to each stage of the project life cycle, from inception through to implementation and closure, and an in-depth knowledge of project management concepts & principles.
- Experience in end-to-end Waterfall/Agile Methodologies
- Previous team management experience
- Technically aware in such areas as Software Development Life Cycle and Infrastructure
- Computer literate with experience in BAU Microsoft solutions, plus Project, DevOps, and Jira
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to project stakeholders
- Good planning, organisational & problem-solving skills
- Strong financial management skills
