About the role.
The role of IT Project Manager sits within our Programme Delivery Team, and they are responsible for all aspects of project management across multiple workstreams running simultaneously, or as part of a business change programme. The main purpose of this role is to ensure projects delivered are of good quality, on time and within budget. To achieve this purpose, we are looking for an experienced IT Project manager to be responsible for the sizing, control, and implementation of small, medium, and large project request. They will engage and partner with key business stakeholders and the technical delivery teams, within IT, to effectively plan and successful deliver IT projects.
We are looking for an IT Project Manager with a proven track record of successful project delivery with a value exceeding £100k and a duration of 6 months. You will have at least 3 years experienced in IT specific project management and it would be advantageous if this has been gained in the Parcel/distribution sector, but this isn’t a must have. What is required, is the ability to work collaborative with others and steer the direction and pace of the project to ensure projects are deliver on time, on budget and of quality. Achieving this end result will be what motivates the role holder, and this will be their object for each and every project they are responsible for.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include the following:
- Successfully execute IT and Business change projects to approved budgets, schedules, and scope.
- Perform the relevant IT Project Management for each stage in the project lifecycle, adhering to the Published PMO Process.
- Establish, Lead, and regularly meet with project Steering Groups, when applicable to the project.
- Perform stage gate reviews and quality assurance reviews with all aspects of IT organisation and business sponsors.
- Review, document and manage identified risks and issues and escalate accordingly.
- Manage the project resources, ensuring the resource plans can successfully deliver against the project requirements, timelines and budgets.
- Report on variances to the project plans, whether they concern Time, Cost or Quality measures and seek to resolve, or if resolution cannot be found then seek approval from the project sponsor/project board for the project to proceed with revised, approved metrics.
- Produce weekly Project Reports using the templates determined by the PMO ensuring all milestones are accurately set and reported against.
- Where projects are developed using AGILE methodology the Project Manager may be required to act as SCRUM Master
What are the requirements?
- Track record in successful delivery of IT Projects that have exceed £100K in value over a period of 6 months.
- The ability to produce detailed Project Plans, identifying interdependencies with other projects and business activities.
- Commercially aware and capable of presenting to internal and external stakeholders
- Determined and driven to succeed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (including negotiation, stakeholder, and supplier management)
- Good listener prepared to challenge the business and IT stakeholders
- Ability to manage, challenge, lead and motivate others
