Job description
IT Placement-1
Harrods has an opportunity for University students with an Industrial placement year to join our IT function, working for our world-famous Luxury department store. This is an exciting chance to gain experience in a forward looking IT organisation that is supporting an evolving and dynamic business that is investing in the latest industry technologies to enhance our brand and customer experience.
About Us
The IT Department at Harrods provides support for all information and communications systems within our luxury store in Knightsbridge, the Hammersmith Head Office and all other subsidiaries of the Harrods Group through both internal and external support teams.
Harrods IT Industrial Placements are designed to provide the opportunity to build detailed insights into one specific area of IT. Placements are available across a range of IT departments including Front Office (end user computing support), Retail Systems, Data Networks, Data Analytics and Cyber Security.
During the Placement you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills and knowledge through experience working with the different teams that contribute to the overall running of that area. You are likely to gain valuable exposure to both the technical and non-technical areas of the department and gain an depth understanding of how the various teams and systems function and interact.
The Industrial Placement will be tailored to where your interests, skills and strengths lie, allowing us to help you identify a pathway toward a rewarding career path in IT. As part of the Industrial Placement at Harrods you will have the opportunity to deliver projects, learn technical skills and gain exposure to the wide range of IT services required to operate our business areas such as Digital and Supply Chain. This will give you an understanding of how we utilise technology to provide Harrods customers with an exceptional in-store and online experience.
About You
The successful candidate for the IT Placement will have:
- A requirement for work experience as part of your University level course (part way through for the Industrial Placements) e.g. undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in a computing related field
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- PC literate, e.g. Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service focus when dealing with both internal and external parties
- Excellent time-management skills and the ability and willingness to multi-task
Our promise to you
Help us make the impossible possible for our customers and we’ll do something remarkable for you. As well as offering a friendly environment to inspire your best work, we provide abundant opportunities and support to build an exceptional career across the varied specialisms of our business.
You’ll enjoy a package that includes 22 days’ holiday, your birthday off, up to 33% Harrods discount (including our restaurants), access to a competitive commission scheme plus joining our generous pension scheme.
