About you
You will be a leader of people able to respond to the demands of managing a large team with a passion about technology and how it can be used to support our business.
You enjoy working on new ideas and leading the way when implementing them whilst being able to expain IT concepts at a level appropriate to the audience.
You possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills rogether with great communication skills and teamworking.
The technologies supported by the team are used by our customers both in club and online, so you’ll have a big impact on their experience. With over 100 sites including data centres, offices and bingo clubs there is the opportunity to get involved in lots of different areas. You’ll be happy working with the legacy systems that make up some of our estate, but you’ll work hard to update them.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Ensure high quality third line platform, network and data support is provided to the business.
- Manage resource allocation for projects and BAU to ensure efficient delivery whilst maintaining service.
- Lead the delivery of a robust and stable infrastructure which is well maintained.
- Lead the deployment of new technologies across all areas of IT. Ensure they are configured and maintained to a high standard.
- Collaborate with all areas of IT including development, engineering and service on the delivery of the IT strategy and problem resolution.
- Assist in the resolution of major incidents.
- Recruit, mentor and develop team members.
- Research into areas of technical interest.
- Drive operational excellence and maintain SLAs to the business.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends relevant to the business and its activities.
Your knowledge and experience
- Experience leading operational IT teams with BAU and project demands.
- Natural leader able to encourage and enable teams to reach their highest potential.
- Highly organized and process driven. We operate in a regulated industry and compliance is part of our everyday.
- Ability to operate and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication & presentation; adaptable to the audience.
- Stakeholder management and relationship building through a consultative, collaborative approach.
- Negotiation and conflict resolution with the ability to rationally influence decisions.
- Attention to detail; picks up on the small things that matter.
- Strategic and innovative thinker; understands and influences the big picture but can roll up sleeves when needed.
- Calm and composed with the ability to manage multiple concurrent demands.
- Experience and personal skills are more important than qualifications however:
- ITIL certifications are beneficial.
- Technical qualifications are a bonus (MCSE, CCNP, etc.).
- Any leadership certifications/qualifications will be well regarded, including project management such as Prince 2.
