Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- To develop and maintain core IT systems in line with stakeholder needs and in keeping up with current best practice for the FE sector. Current core IT systems include but are not limited to:
o Microsoft Active Directory o Microsoft 2008r2 to 2022 Servers o Linux Servers (Various distributions) o System Center Configuration Manager o System Center Virtual Machine Manager o Hyper-V 2016 to 2019
o Netapp and HP Storage (Fibre Channel and iSCSI) o Office 365, Azure AD oG Suite (Google Apps) o Wired and wireless networks
o Working with Network Manager - Routing, switching and Firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, HP,
Allied Telesis, etc) o Backup – Recovery – Replication o Cyber-security o Analysis skills desirable including power bi and elastic stack.
- To contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan for the College.
- Ensure the provision and availability of core IT services in accordance with defined services levels.
- Ensure the security and integrity of College IT infrastructure and systems, with support from JISC and other FE sector technical support organisations.
- To manage the day to day operations of core IT systems, ensuring that planning, end-user impact, change management, training, quality management are properly addressed and monitored to ensure that deadlines and service levels are met and results delivered.
- Line management of part of the cross college IT team, including sharing knowledge and developing the skills of the wider IT team.
- To enhance the functionality of core systems to achieve the best outcomes for the users.
- Adhere to processes in place to ensure the delivery of projects and tasks to agreed timescales and service standards.
- Ensure maximum availability of IT systems and infrastructure, minimise outages and ensure optimal system performance.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with College suppliers of IT systems and infrastructure.
- Maintain full asset and inventory records for core IT systems, including electronic monitoring of utilisation.
- To undertake any other activity that would be reasonably required of the postholder.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
a) Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to the College’s strategic aims.
b) Comply with College policies and procedures and health and safety regulations.
c) Support the safeguarding and promotion of students’ welfare.
d) Maintain confidentiality in relation to all College information and to comply with Data Protection Legislation.
e) Participate in the College’s Performance and Planning Review process and undertake any training as required.
f) Support and actively participate in the implementation of the College’s Equality Strategy.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £38,642.00-£41,301.00 per year
