Overview of Role
This Guernsey based role is as a developer in the IT team of Rothschild & Co Bank International (“R&CoBI”). This is a small, dedicated development team which maintains the highest standards required in order to keep the organisation operating as efficiently as possible.
Although based in Guernsey, the team form part of a bigger global Business Applications group, collaborating on development standards and wider ranging projects.
Whilst hands on coding will form a large part of the role, in order to deliver the best possible solutions a good understanding of the business requirements is vital with strong communication skills required to prepare specifications, decide the best method of delivery and manage projects through to completion. We liaise internally with project stakeholders as well as third party developers and software vendors.
This is a varied role in which the candidate will have to continually adapt to change, embracing new technology when appropriate in order to leverage a competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain bespoke business-oriented solutions
  • Understand business requirements and translate them into appropriate solutions
  • Support existing applications as part of a team
  • Provide cover and assistance with routine maintenance and running of systems
  • Produce reports as requested by the business
Skills and Experience
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, ideally with prior experience in C# / VB.net
  • Strong SQL and an understanding of relation databases is essential
Although not essential, the ideal candidate will also have:
  • Experience of Devops or other Agile tools
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design principals
  • Experience of source control
  • Microsoft Azure
