Job description
The role :
To be responsible for the delivery of efficient business analysis services in support of ITMS projects and the academic and business requirements. The Business Analyst is a member of the Systems Change Team and will work with senior managers and colleagues within ITMS and across the University to develop key project documentation such as Project Mandates, Business Cases, Business Requirements Specifications and Options Appraisals.
The start date for the role is 21/06/2023 to 31/05/2023 working on a hybrid basis for 37 hours per week.
Duties and responsibilities :
1.Form alliances and relationships with key stakeholders / contacts across the University to enable the effective delivery of services, raising the profile of ITMS and ensuring clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
2.Ensure compliance with corporate standards for information systems, security and technology in line with relevant legislation and audit requirements.
3.Produce the Project Mandates, Business Cases and other associated project documentation relating to requested changes in accordance with DMU standards, and work with the Project Managers and project teams to understand and document the projects objectives and scope.
4.Liaise with business managers and users to understand and prioritise business requirements and business re-engineering requirements across the affected business area. Analyse and document the business requirements.
5.Analyse and develop complete and accurate business models including details of process, data and organisation.
6.Work with business owners to define quality expectations and acceptance criteria and work with the delivery team to develop optimal solutions.
7.Produce training needs analyses on selected solutions, including identifying training needs for all stakeholders.
8.Provide the link between the customer, the development team and any third-party regarding software functionality throughout the development cycle.
9.Work with project delivery work streams to communicate business objectives and requirements, make decisions on delivery options and produce delivery costs and
timescales.
10.Liaise with other Business Analysts, Enterprise Architect and Project Managers to understand and manage project dependencies, to plan analysis work and highlight risks and issues.
11.Product UAT scripts, collate UAT results and reconcile results with original requirements.
12.Work with Finance to define accurate, meaningful and measurable business cases.
13.Produce detailed requirements specifications that enable the chosen solution to be
developed and tested with minimal analysis support and liaise closely with the testing areas to ensure appropriate test criteria are being created to reflect the business needs.
14.Participate in and facilitate client and project team meetings to explain analysis results.
15.Identify and manage health and safety risks according to the University’s policies and procedures.
Skills and experience :
Educated to degree level or professional qualification (ISEB Business Analysis) or equivalent experience.
engaging and building relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Experience of facilitating and participating in client and project team meetings and workshops.
Has participated in and facilitated client and project team meetings to explain analysis results.
Experience of budget preparation and proposal writing.
Experience of delivering business analysis in a complex environment.
Significant customer service experience in a high pace IT service delivery environment.
Has worked in a formal project management environment.
