IT Administrator
Location: Hybrid working from our office near Old Street
Role Type: Permanent, Full Time
Salary Bracket: £30,000 - £35,000
Reporting to: Head of IT

The IT Administrator role will form a key part of our new IT Team. Our new IT function is leading several strategic initiatives at Makers from Cyber Security to Data Management, and Compliance.
Whilst our Head of IT is currently leading these initiatives, this role will support them in providing excellent technical IT support to our staff and students, as well as supporting key projects and managing our hardware assets.
This role is an exciting role to be involved in numerous areas of IT, and gain experience and exposure during an exciting period of growth at Makers.
What you'll be doing
First Line IT Support (40%)
Your primary role will be to provide first-line technical support to Makers employees both remote and on-site, as well as our students. Support is predominantly conducted via email, Slack and Zoom.
These tasks will include, but not limited to:
- Owning the IT Support function at Makers escalating to the IT and Systems Lead when required.
- Administering the ticket system.
- Setting up and (remotely) maintain employee laptops, mobile phones, and office equipment including cabling, peripherals, and printers.
- Creating user Guides and How-To Videos around new systems or system upgrades.
- Creating and maintaining both staff and student user accounts.
- Administering and supporting our Google Suite.
- Managing Mobile Device Management Platform (MDM – Apple) and Antivirus platforms to ensure devices are up-to-date and secure.
- Enforcing company IT policies, best practices and security – Educating users when needed on best practices.
Data Systems Project Support (40%)
A key part of your role will be to support the Head of IT with major long-term projects to migrate and manage key data and compliance systems makers.
- Moving large amounts of data and records to new systems.
- Data entry and creation of automation into the new systems.
- Running small phases of projects, with the scope to create processes and best practice.
- Administering users and permissions on data systems.
Hardware Management (20%)
Another key part of your role will be to manage the hardware operation with our Operations team.
- Administering laptop requests.
- Shipping out laptops to our students and staff.
- Maintaining and checking laptops on return.
- Maintaining the asset management system.
- Ensuring we have adequate hardware or ordering equipment when required.
What success looks like
- Providing prompt and quality technical support to the team and students.
- Successful and fast-moving project phase completion with your support.
- The smooth operation of laptop loaning service to students.
Metrics to be finalised with the Head of IT but will include:
- Student and staff satisfaction.
- Accuracy of hardware stock levels and smooth operation.
- Improved average resolution time of IT support tickets.
