Job Title: IT Administration & Applications Engineer
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000
Location: Leamington Spa
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Your role and responsibilities
Antech Diagnostics are looking for an experienced IT Administration & Applications Engineer to join our growing team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with designing and implementing programs and applications. This includes configuration as well as implementation and testing. You will also be responsible for hardware installations and connections to network or other applications as well as the creation and administration of servers and server roles typically in a hypervisor environment.
This role will be located at Antech’s European HQ in Leamington Spa. This site is due to open in late summer 2023. Prior to the opening, this role will be a remote role working from home. Frequent travel to work at other Antech sites will be required.
Key responsibilities and attributes include:
- Implant new software and applications, as well as maintenance and testing of current applications.
- Hardware installs as well as software set-up and connections to network or other applications.
- Assist with connecting veterinary laboratory instruments to the network and working with lab techs to test connectivity. (Training will be provided from the Antech US IT Team)
- Regular and effective communication with various department heads on laboratory needs.
- Create/update documentation and procedures that are relevant to this role including the design/installation/configuration of software/hardware/systems/servers.
- Implement Project Requests from Operations.
- Ensure that software works correctly after maintenance and testing.
- Collaborating with designers, programmers, and developers.
- Assist with deployment strategy of new applications in various lab environments.
- Perform level 1 assistance to end users and associates.
- Software installation on servers, laptops and desktops and any other relevant hardware.
- Regular testing to ensure applications are performing up to standards.
- Assisting with Network maintenance.
- Other ad hoc duties when required
Experience and skill set required:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- 3+ years related experience.
- Experience of working in a healthcare or laboratory setting is desired.
- Experience designing, implementing, administering, and supporting servers in a hypervisor environment using Hyper V.
- Experience with Hyper V and Microsoft failover clustering.
- Experience in Windows Servers creation/administration/configuration/support including Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Group Policy, Security, User Profiles, File Server, Print Server, Exchange Online, and SFTP Server.
- Basic Linux knowledge is required.
- Advantageous but not essential to be familiar with software deployment technologies such as Microsoft System Centre/Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
- Self-motivated and direct, with the ability to effectively prioritise and deliver in a high-pressure environment.
- Willing to work outside regular hours for emergency situations or to suit project/downtime window requirements.
- Organised with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Good problem-solving and attention to detail skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical approach and ability to think outside the box.
- Customer service driven.
