Job Title: Associate Irrigation Manager or Irrigation Manager (mid-level)
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Salary Range: $70,000 to $85,000/annual
Schedule: M-F, 5:45am to 2:45pm; may vary based on the needs of the business
Reports to: Branch Manager
Reporting Location: 622 Emory St. San Jose, CA 95110
The Irrigation Manager is responsible for contributing to the branch revenue and profit objectives, by selling and producing exceptional irrigation work, and exceeding client expectations. The Irrigation Manager is responsible for supervising the irrigation technicians, repair work, quality, performance, training, and budgets.
Primary Responsibilities Including but not Limited to:
1. Develop and Maintain a Strong Team
- Supervise Irrigation Technicians assigned to the Branch. Manage safety and production among technicians, equipment, vehicles, and work orders to maximize productivity and meet profit objectives.
- Monitor monthly irrigation sales goals, manage work to exceed goals.
- Team development: recruit/hire or develop internal candidates for Irrigation Team.
- Evaluate strengths and limitations of the Irrigation team.
- Identify training and development opportunities to build the knowledge and skill of Irrigation team.
- Mentor Technicians to ensure effective Gachina quality standards are maintained including the managing labor, materials, and equipment.
- Complete annual performance reviews within the expected time frame
- Comply with company policy and procedure, support timely and accurate implementation of procedures and paperwork.
- Foster a cohesive team with Operations, to ensure quick response for clients.
2. Gachina Customer Service Standards
- Coordinates requests for Irrigation work from Account Managers for their clients and dispatches technicians to perform the work.
- Able to understand the client’s needs and capable of getting acquainted with properties and make reasonable recommendations for property improvements and repairs as part of the client relationshi management.
- Schedule and perform timely irrigation walk-throughs and inspections.
- Partners with Account Management to develop client’s relationships, creates solutions to client problems and produces proposals within the requested timeframe.
- Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, potential clients, vendors and other Gachina team members.
- Develop annual water management budgets for clients.
- Partner with Business Development to support irrigation requests for new business.
3. Gachina Quality Standards
- Support Account and Project Managers, and Irrigation Technicians with change orders and/or disputed work with trade contractors and/or clients.
- Submit paperwork on-time and accurate. Complete job tickets with labor and materials; monitor job performance to ensure profitability.
- Manage irrigation stock room inventory, control costs.
- Develops and monitors all irrigation production scheduling and communicates with internal and external clients, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Works in partnership with water management and technician to develop and monitor water management projects, scheduling and communication with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Direct the daily activities of the Irrigation Technicians for the Branch.
- Monitors all costs for each project daily to achieve budget and profit standards.
- Monitor existing process/system and recommend improvements to improve efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications, Experience, and Additional Compensation:
Required:
- A.A or BS Degree in Horticulture (or equivalent) or 2-4 years’ experience in landscape irrigation
- Valid CA Driver’s License and must be pre-authorized by the company’s insurance
- Proficiency with Telephone/Voicemail Technology and computers – iPhone OS, business management software, MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
- Ability to develop strong employee relationships, responsive and receptive to employee and management requests.
- Organized and self-motivated – schedule work, meet deadlines and associated follow ups.
- Lead by example - positive attitude, initiative, team oriented, and strong role model
- Communicate priorities, follow-up to ensure quality and hold team members accountable.
Preferred:
- Irrigation Certification – CLT-Irrigation, CLCA Water Manager, CLIA.
- Accomplished verbal, written and reading comprehension in both English & Spanish.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform landscape maintenance and irrigations tasks including but not limited to: lift and carry up to 25lbs., full range of mobility in upper and lower body including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel and operate computer, phone, and other tools as needed.
