The Integrated
Passenger Transport Operations Team is responsible for the safe and efficient
use of over 100 minibuses to transport people in North Yorkshire. The team comprises
approximately 300 drivers and passenger assistants that operate at locations throughout
North Yorkshire.

The
team delivers approximately 250,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000
wheelchair user journeys. The transport provided enables people to access schools,
day centres, learning opportunities, supported employment and other meaningful
activities in our community. We also undertake registered local bus services and
community transport journeys.

We
are looking for caring, flexible, and committed people to help us provide this
transport.

You will be
responsible for the safety of passengers during these journeys and will ensure
that the passengers board and alight safely as well as ensuring that any safety
equipment is used correctly. Full
training in the use of all safety equipment will be provided.

You will need
good communication skills as you will liaise daily with the passengers, carers,
and establishment staff. Experience is
not essential: however, some experience of assisting passengers in accessible vehicles
or working in a similar role would be an advantage for this position.

We have a
vacancy for an Established part-time Passenger Assistant Medical at 20 Hours
per week on a Term Time only contract. This vacancy is based in Northallerton.
The typical (but not exact) 20 hours working week would be approximately from 07.30am
to 09:30am and approximately from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, however these hours may
vary to fit the needs of our customers.

The hours
will be worked from Monday to Friday inclusive.

The role will
involve split shifts.

The
successful candidate will need to attend a TEAM TEACH training course before
starting “live” in this post:

TEAM TEACH (Positive Behaviour Management) Level Two is a
two-day training course designed to deliver proven, safe strategies for anyone
managing challenging behaviour in medium-risk settings. It provides an
understanding of the causes of challenging behaviour, along with respectful, supportive,
and practical strategies for de-escalation and crisis intervention. All
techniques that are taught are situated within an approach to behaviour
management, which seeks to minimise the need for physical intervention and
maintain positive relationships.

The role will
require you to be flexible to fit in with Integrated Passenger Transport demand.

We offer a
comprehensive training package including the Passenger Assistant Training
Scheme (PATS), Basic First Aid and Managing Challenging Behaviour.

This
post involves access to vulnerable service users and if you were offered the
position, you will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring
Service (DBS) background check.

For further information regarding the vacancy please contact Paul Lincoln, Operations Officer on Telephone 07837 718143 or email [email protected].

Closing Date: 24 September 2023
