About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Intellectual Property Team as a Paralegal focusing on patent and trade mark portfolios within Ocado Group.

You’ll be working on various IP-related projects, conducting legal research, supporting the business with IP queries, working with key stakeholders and preparing template documents as well as reviewing legal documents. You’ll work closely with Ocado Tech Solutions and Ocado Retail in this role to support our Legal, Governance and IP function.

You will be

  • Tracking and reporting of patent and trade mark portfolios

  • Responsible for the day to day coordination of trade mark work between trade mark attorney and external formalities company

  • Supporting and preparing responses to general IP queries

  • Carrying out research and presenting results in written and oral form

  • Assisting and supporting on IP-related projects including the collation and presentation of information

  • Preparing and checking legal documents for quality, consistency and content

  • Proof reading and summarising legal documents

  • Reviewing contracts and policy documents

  • Instructing external counsel to conduct advice on ad hoc projects and reviewing their findings

  • Communicating with and supporting stakeholders from across the business with various projects

  • Assisting with the creation of precedent templates and updating the IP knowledge bank

  • Working on general administrative tasks

About you

  • Law degree or alternative legal qualification

  • Ability to conduct legal research

  • Ability to analyse and present data and information simply and clearly

  • Strong commercial awareness

  • Ability to work well within a team environment and build relationships

  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Self-starter who can work autonomously and solve problems

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload

Desirable:

  • Intellectual Property experience or degree option

  • Work experience either in a law firm or an in-house legal team

  • Project management experience

  • Previous experience within the tech industry
