An exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the airline within Integrated Operations Control managing the Aircraft Control and Stand Planning for our 24/7 Global Network. The team within the IOC have the responsibility to control the BA global operation, allocating aircraft and crew, planning flights and managing disruption to protect the customer proposition.
We are recruiting for three functions within the Aircraft Controller role:
- Aircraft Controller within the IOC team – this role is shift based 24/7 and the successful candidate will be trained in either management of Aircraft allocation or Stand allocation and proactively monitors aircraft and stand plan making interventions when required to support the delivery of the operation providing control and mitigation of delays
- Aircraft Controller Pre-Planning Aircraft – this role manages our aircraft plan from 10 days out, to provide the IOC with an aircraft plan that meets with engineering compliance, operating defect rules and planning for operational disruption. The role is day shift role that covers 7days a week
- Aircraft Controller Pre-Planning Stands – this role builds our Terminal 5 stand plan on a rolling 3 day basis to optimise the best use of stands and the towing programme that supports its delivery, alongside critical aircraft parking planning during festive periods
We are looking for candidates who have experience in an operational control or aircraft/stand planning, who enjoy the excitement of the operation and want to work with our teams in responding to changes in our operating plan.
With flights to over 200 destinations and up to 800 daily departures, no two days are the same and the role is key to ensure we have all of our flights crewed in line with company and regulatory requirements. The role has good variety, rotating through operational positions covering either our shorthaul or longhaul programme to reliably deliver the operation for our customers.
Key duties;
- Accountable for ensuring effective decisions are made by feeding in aircraft and operational awareness to the cell as well as coordinating across cells to balance priorities across the operation
- Accountable for allocation of aircraft to services and responsible for delivering Heathrow stand plan, including liaising with HAL regarding stands
- Proactively monitors aircraft and stand plan making interventions when required to support the delivery of the operation providing control and mitigation of delays
- Responsible for maintaining ETD management
- Responsible for managing aircraft and stands during irregular operations
including oversight of the aircraft change process
