Considering this, we’re looking for R developers and R modellers to work within our Investment, and Economic Scenario Service (ESS) teams, to help design, build and deliver analytics and software solutions that empower our clients to make effective decisions.

Individuals with R development and modelling capabilities are in high demand across Hymans. Some of the specific areas building out these capabilities include:
Investment: We provide impactful, impartial investment advice to institutional investors. The services we offer includes strategic asset allocation advice; manager selection and monitoring; financial modelling & portfolio construction; and performance & risk monitoring. Responsible investing, including considering and mitigating climate related risks, is at the heart of our philosophy.
Economic Scenario Service: We have extensively developed and maintained our industry leading economic scenario generator, continuously updating to take advantage of the latest innovations. The output supports the advice process of our in-house pensions, life insurance and investment teams, as well as powering a variety of downstream applications. The economic scenario service team (ESS Team) continue to develop it using the latest technology, academic research, and modelling methods to support our clients’ risk modelling requirements.

- Be core to the product teams that build, test, and scale our applications and services.
What we are looking for from you
To succeed in, and enjoy, this role you are likely to be familiar with:
- Modern software development best practices from initial problem and data analysis, through to solution design and technical implementation.
- Financial modelling - an interest or prior experience in pensions, investment, or economic modelling domain would be beneficial
You will have experience of the following:
- R programming (ideally in the context of package development)
- Git and general code-management / documentation practices
- Continuous improvement and continuous delivery practices, DevOps culture
- R shiny & R Markdown
In addition, experience of the following would be particularly attractive but not necessary:
- APIs (particularly through R plumber package)
- Familiarity with Azure Cloud computing technologies
