Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding new opportunity in an exciting role that is focused on a rapidly developing part of Asda?

This Investment focused Commercial Finance role is part of a wider team that partners both the Wholesale and Convenience and Property team, making critical decisions on Asda's investment into Convenience stores and helping the business deliver its ambition of #2 in Grocery through organic new store growth opportunities.

Your Role

• You'll work with stakeholders across Wholesale and Convenience, Property, including surveyors, market evaluation and construction, alongside other Asda teams such as Legal and the wider Finance team
• Also be responsible for challenging senior stakeholders to prioritise and evaluate investment decisions to unlock growth opportunities through new store growth opportunities
• You will support new store schemes from approval through to opening; reviewing and challenging scheme economics; inputting into store plans; providing insight into commercial performance and conducting post investment evaluations
• You will identify improvements to ways of working and underlying robustness of investment appraisal approach
• You will participate in the preparation and review of budgets / forecasts / commercial review for ASDA portfolio of Convenience stores, performing analysis and drive insight to improve commercial performance

About you

• Strong commercial skill set and critical thinking, with the ability to evaluate investments and support clear, robust and measurable business cases
• Ability to provide accurate, timely information to a high quality with excellent attention to detail
• Drive to be a ‘self-starter' who looks to set direction and take ownership of complex issues to drive the right actions
• Confidence to challenge and influence operational partners at senior levels of the organisation
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish professional, credible relations with both finance and non-finance colleagues, as well as great communication skills to ensure information is clearly articulated
• Experience in the use of Excel, PowerPoint and analysis tools to support data-driven decisions
• Applicants should be a graduate (or equivalent) with strong academics and a professional accounting qualification with post qualified experience

Desirable:

• Convenience Experience, operational business partnering, range / proposition appraisal optimisation
• Mergers & Acquisitions experience
