Job description

Salary £32,020 - £36,298 per annum | Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week | County Hall, Preston

We are currently recruiting…

Are you dynamic and meticulous and want to be an Investigator working within Investigation Services at Lancashire County Council.

Are you driven and passionate about combatting financial crime? If so, this is the perfect opportunity to become part of our vision as we lead the way within Local Government, preventing and identifying all types of financial crime.

This is a brand-new team created to raise awareness throughout the directorates on potential risks and issues relating to financial crime. You will be helping to deliver effective strategies to ensure possible threats to finances are reduced by focusing on preventative measures.

We want to fill our team with bright and ambitious individuals, who are willing to go the extra mile and get stuck in to promote our new service. You will need to bring a compelling 'Can Do' attitude with an abundance of enthusiasm to help us become a resounding success.

What we are looking for…

Passion – You will need to be passionate about our organisation and making a difference to each service, using your critical thinking and analytical skills to identify key areas of weakness – we want you to get out there and start building important working relationships, communicating effectively what we do and how we can help – you will be a champion of counter fraud and fraud prevention, firmly establishing that we are the people to go to whenever an issue arises – the variety of work on offer is vast, working across the whole of the council so you will need to harness your investigative talents and work closely with each service to save funds and prevent crime

Challenge – You will need to be prepared when it comes to the challenges of dealing with the actual fraudsters themselves and also the victims – it is crucial you remain professional and communicate effectively in all stages of investigations, providing superior support to the affected service area – in these difficult circumstances you will work closely with internal audit to help improve practices, safeguarding against any other financial crimes – we want you to utilise your approachability when liaising with other service areas to help rectify any and all issues, focusing on prevention and identifying future risks

Strategic – We need you to be an expert strategist, seizing the opportunity to help mould and shape ways of working within our new team – you will be part of our future development, implementing new processes and creating worthwhile strategies to mitigate any risks – investigation work is dynamic by nature, so we want all of the team to remain flexible and be able to accommodate all the demands that come with the job – we are striving for success and will give you all the tools required to make this happen from support with training to professional qualifications – joining us will allow you to make a real impact and establish a service to be proud of, be the difference, and help us combat financial crime

Why join us…

Benefits: There's fabulous flexibility and the opportunity to create the work life balance you'll love with up to 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays, 2 additional days at Christmas and then an additional 20 days that can be purchased too – we have a generous local authority pension with shared AVC's available then a benefits package which has everything from dog care to day care, holidays at home or abroad, long service awards, Medicash, support groups, cycle to work schemes and eye tests plus much more available to view on the LCC vacancies website.

Development: You will get support and development along the journey – there will be time for supportive reflection and supervision for yourself, opportunities for personal growth and development, multidisciplinary initiatives, mentoring, the opportunity to make a difference, feel valued and achieve the job satisfaction you've always wanted.

Inclusivity: We do not have a "one size fits all" idealism, we embrace diversity and that includes around personal and family requirements so appreciate that you will want to be working from home when you can, your hours may vary or change and for us – delivering successful outcomes is more important than watching the clock.
