Invest Milton Keynes is Milton Keynes City Council’s Economic Development team, providing support to the thousands of businesses that call the city home, and promoting MK as the best place in the UK to do business. We are always developing new ambitious schemes to support our economy, whether that’s delivery of an award winning Economic Recovery Programme, promoting Bletchley as part of our Town deal programme or shaping the city’s growing tech and innovation ecosystem.
This is an exciting new role and opportunity to join the Council’s Economic Development team as Invest Milton Keynes Manager, leading the day to day operations of the Invest MK team. You’ll be responsible for line management of the team and of securing investment in our city.
Role ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include:
- Helping us position the City both nationally and internationally with investors, businesses and government.
- People leadership of the ED team, leading work including economic development, inward investment and key corporate economic projects.
- Budget management and leadership of our £3.1m Economic Recovery Plan.
- Engagement with the 12,000+ businesses that call the city home.
- Managing key relationships with businesses, investors and developers, and partners including other Local Authorities, the Department for Business and Trade, and South East Midland Local Enterprise Partnership.
- Helping the City Council deliver future economic strategies and plans.
- An experienced manager, with at least two years management experience in local government, central government, or in a relevant private sector organisation.
- Excellent understanding of Economic Development and Inward Investment in a Local Authority context, and an evidenced track record of securing investment decisions.
- First rate communication, negotiation and influencing skills, as well as a high level of political awareness.
- Experienced at developing and maintaining good working relationships and partnerships with a wide range of senior stakeholders.
- A good understanding of place promotion and branding within a Local Authority context.
- Act in line with the City Council’s workplace values (we are Dedicated, Respectful and Collaborative) in developing relationships with partners.
