We are looking for a passionate and organized Leave Management Specialist to join the People Operations team! If preferable, this is a fully remote opportunity where you will contribute to the success of our company by supporting our most valuable assets, our people! You will be the go-to resource for workplace accommodations and time away including leave of absences, disability, paid parental leave and ADA accommodations. You will play a key role in making SquareTrade a great place for our employees to work by providing quality support to team members who are in need of time off and effective partnership to all other stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer workplace accommodations and time away programs from beginning to end including leave of absences consisting of continuous and intermittent leaves under the Family and Medical Leave Act, paid parental leave, disability, ADA accommodations and/or personal leaves.
- Utilize your strong understanding of applicable local and federal employment regulations including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure company policy and practices are in compliance.
- Execute all paperwork, including medical certifications, eligibility determination, leave designation or denials and recertifications
- Maintain complete records of all leave and accommodations and accurately track all leave time used by team members
- Communicate effectively and empathetically both verbally and in writing to guide employees through the accommodation and leave process in a timely manner to ensure they feel supported and informed
- Advise employees and stakeholders on time away entitlements including job protection, wage continuation, worker’s compensation and any other applicable company, federal or local benefits
- Own accommodation workflows to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and promptly, including reporting leave time used each pay period, calculating and reporting leave wages and notifying employees, managers and HRBP’s of current work status and any expirations and recertification needs
- Oversee workers compensation processes including reporting and claim management
- Partner with HR and legal counterparts to resolve issues, mitigate risk and ensure compliance
- Drive the development, implementation and calibration of the company’s policy and practices related to workplace accommodations and time away benefits
What We’re Looking For:
- 4+ years of leave management experience including administering and tracking FMLA, ADA, state leaves, parental leaves and personal leaves
- A deep understanding of federal and local laws regulating leaves of absences including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, Workers Compensation, etc
- Experience managing leave of absences and accommodations for a non-exempt workforce is a plus
- Background in managing state-specific paid leave programs in California is a plus
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to be organized, detail-oriented and accurate while managing multiple, conflciting cases
- Capacity to approach interactions with empathy and understanding with the ability to be firm when needed
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, and Google suite products) and prior experience in ADP Workforce Now is a plus
- Proven track record of driving efficiencies, improving processes and following through
- Bachelor’s degree in related area is preferred

(Colorado Only) Pursuant to applicable law, SquareTrade estimates the possible compensation for this role, if hired in Colorado, to be within the following range: $65K-$85K.
