An Introduction to TV Production
ITV Studios: MultiStory Media and Lifted Entertainment, North
We all love watching TV, but have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes and how the magic is created? Well this could be your chance to find out!
Office location: Many of the modules can be accessed from home however there is an opportunity to request a week’s work experience in the offices at Media City, Salford.

An Introduction to TV Production is a programme of masterclasses, CV clinics and support that will take place over a six month period to be attended virtually. Candidates will also have the opportunity (optional and subject to production schedules) to apply for a week’s work experience. You will gain a good understanding of how our TV programmes are produced (behind camera) as well as career advice in order for you to apply for paid opportunities.

The team
MultiStory Media are a team of passionate story-tellers working across a broad range of genres: Current Affairs, Entertainment, Politics, Factual Entertainment, Documentaries and Drama. We are delighted to offer a week’s work experience on Tonight; the nation’s most watched Current Affairs series (this will be hybrid work experience with some days in the Media City offices).
Lifted Entertainment is home to some of the biggest TV shows in the world. From live shows such as Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, to talent shows like The Voice UK, quizzes such as University Challenge and reality TV formats including Love Island, there isn’t an unscripted genre we do not produce.

The role
Being part of this Programme gives you access to a range of programme makers through masterclasses, and networking events which will inform and advise on the best ways of breaking into the business, as well as the chance to broaden your network and gain possible first-hand behind the scenes experience. You’ll have access to:
- Masterclasses with senior programme makers
- Meet the ITV Studios Talent Teams
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- A demonstrable passion for unscripted TV
- A demonstrable interest in building a behind camera career within either editorial or production management within unscripted TV
- Knowledge of programmes produced by either MultiStory Media and/or Lifted Entertainment
