Landsec is one of the UK’s leading real estate companies that owns, develops and manages property around the UK including offices, retail destinations and urban neighbourhoods. At Landsec, we have a diverse and exciting range of roles that all play an important part in running a successful business including property management, urban regeneration, retail, customer, innovation, HR, finance, digital, sustainability and marketing.

We’re launching our Landsec Internships – exciting new opportunities to join our business with six months of paid work experience. It’s important to us that Landsec reflects the communities we’re part of, which is why our internships aim to give people who might not have previously considered working in the real estate industry the chance to start their career in our organisation. Landsec Internships are entry level meaning it doesn’t matter if you have any work experience, what school you went to, or if you went to university. You might be at the start of your career, or even looking for a change in career. The placements are designed to build your confidence, transferable skills and experience in the world of work, while giving you the opportunity to contribute new insights and perspectives to our business.
Please note that Landsec Internships have eligibility criteria in line with our social mobility focus – you can find more details about this below.
What’s involved?
  • Six months of paid work experience starting in either April or October each year.
  • The chance to build your experience and skills in a dynamic and inclusive FTSE-100 business, hosted in a specific team at Landsec, where you will work on exciting projects during your internship.
  • Training, learning and development opportunities to develop your skillset and confidence, including access to LinkedIn Learning.
  • A team buddy and senior mentor to grow your professional network, alongside personal coaching.
  • The opportunity to join our diversity and employee networks.
  • London Living Wage salary of £22,837.50 (pro-rata for 6 months).
  • Landsec Internships are designed to give you the first step on your career journey in the real estate industry – please note that these are six-month opportunities with no guarantee of a permanent role at the end.

The role – Retail Intern
The O2 Shopping Centre is located on the busy Finchley Road, between Swiss Cottage and West Hampstead, and has an excellent mix of restaurants, lifestyle and leisure brands. The centre acts as a community hub for many people in the local area. Our large Sainsbury’s, Aldi Local and Homebase attract shoppers from further afield, as does our 12 screen Vue cinema. The O2 Centre provides spaces for community activities and events, and we recently welcomed a Ukrainian Refugee Hub where the displaced community can meet, get essential items, learn and play. As a centre team, we pride ourselves on providing a safe, clean and exciting environment, with exceptional and friendly customer service.
The role of Retail Intern will be to support the running of The O2 Shopping Centre, and the role aims to give you experience in shopping centre management, in particular in a retail management role. You will assist our retail operations team to maximise sales, build brand partner relationships and ensure a safe working environment. You will support with project management of events, marketing and other initiatives. You will support with community and inclusion projects to ensure improved services and increased awareness for all guests.
As the Retail Intern, you will support the Retail Manager in helping to improve the centre’s facilities, communicate with our brand partners to support them day to day. Your day might involve improving the customer experience for a disabled or neurodiverse guest to the centre; helping to improve social media or website content; supporting with events held at the centre; or assisting the Centre Director in a weekly ‘floor walk’, making notes of any works needed and following up on actions.
In this position, you will learn how a busy shopping centre is managed. You will learn how to work in a team, build new relationships with different stakeholders, develop your confidence in communicating at all levels, build time management skills, and manage an event with support from your colleagues.
We’re looking for someone who is outgoing with a desire to try new things. You will enjoy working with different people and believe the best outcomes result from in-person communication. You will be comfortable working on projects independently and work with initiative.
Can I apply?
Landsec Internships aim to give you the first step on your career journey into the real estate industry. We’re looking for enthusiastic people who are ready to learn, get involved and make the opportunity their own. You don’t need to have any qualifications or previous work experience to apply for our internships, but you may be asked to demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English. If you haven’t thought about exploring a career in property before, why not give it a go – we’d love to hear from you!
It’s important to us that our business is more representative of the communities we’re part of, which is why we’ve designed the programme in line with the UK Social Mobility Commission Toolkit. Why do we ask these questions?
We are committed to enhancing social mobility at Landsec to address a lack of representation by socio-economic background. Landsec Internships are designed to make sure people from backgrounds that are currently underrepresented within the real estate industry have the opportunity to gain work experience in our business, which is why we use the UK Social Mobility Commission Toolkit for our eligibility criteria.
