Job Description

Sustainable places. Connecting communities. Realising potential. We live by our purpose to create great experiences for people, now and in the future.

Landsec is one of the UK’s leading real estate companies that owns, develops and manages property around the UK including offices, retail destinations and urban neighbourhoods. At Landsec, we have a diverse and exciting range of roles that all play an important part in running a successful business including property management, urban regeneration, retail, customer, innovation, HR, finance, digital, sustainability and marketing.

Having a diverse workforce at all levels will empower us to make better decisions. We know that employing a diverse mix of people makes us a stronger and more sustainable business and one that reflects the diverse society around us. That’s why we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.

We’re launching our Landsec Internships – exciting new opportunities to join our business with six months of paid work experience. It’s important to us that Landsec reflects the communities we’re part of, which is why our internships aim to give people who might not have previously considered working in the real estate industry the chance to start their career in our organisation. Landsec Internships are entry level meaning it doesn’t matter if you have any work experience, what school you went to, or if you went to university. You might be at the start of your career, or even looking for a change in career. The placements are designed to build your confidence, transferable skills and experience in the world of work, while giving you the opportunity to contribute new insights and perspectives to our business.

Please note that Landsec Internships have eligibility criteria in line with our social mobility focus – you can find more details about this below.

What’s involved?

  • Six months of paid work experience starting in either April or October each year.
  • The chance to build your experience and skills in a dynamic and inclusive FTSE-100 business, hosted in a specific team at Landsec, where you will work on exciting projects during your internship.
  • Training, learning and development opportunities to develop your skillset and confidence, including access to LinkedIn Learning.
  • A team buddy and senior mentor to grow your professional network, alongside personal coaching.
  • The opportunity to join our diversity and employee networks.
  • London Living Wage salary of £22,837.50 (pro-rata for 6 months).
  • Landsec Internships are designed to give you the first step on your career journey in the real estate industry – please note that these are six-month opportunities with no guarantee of a permanent role at the end.

The role – Compliance Intern

The Compliance team at Landsec supports our business to make sure we follow all the different legal requirements that apply to the work we do, in a way that is user-friendly to different groups. As a team, we manage the organisational risk for Landsec as a whole. Our team works within the business to come up with practical solutions to different issues, meaning we bring different perspectives to our roles every day. We continuously look at how we can apply our learnings and consider what we can do differently to make improvements.

The role of Compliance Intern is the perfect opportunity for someone who is interested in a future career in Law, Risk, Assurance, Audit or Compliance. As Compliance Intern, your role would include an exciting range of tasks to build your knowledge and understanding of the important role of a Compliance team to a large commercial property business. You would get involved with lots of different projects which might include managing our response as a team to different situations or questions.

You would support in managing our data protection matters, for example CCTV footage release and managing our team inbox to support our response to questions. You would support people at Landsec by answering questions about our policies and procedures, helping them understand what they need to do and any processes they need to follow. You would also ensure that colleagues are complying with our policies by working on gifts and hospitality claims. You would have an important role in helping us keep key documents up to date, as well as supporting a project to redesign our team SharePoint site. In general, you would support the Director of Risk and Assurance and the Group Compliance Lead with a range of compliance matters, building your skills and experience in an innovative team.

We’re looking for someone who has great attention to detail, perseverance, and good written and spoken communication skills. You should have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, and good administrative skills are a bonus.

Can I apply?

Landsec Internships aim to give you the first step on your career journey into the real estate industry. We’re looking for enthusiastic people who are ready to learn, get involved and make the opportunity their own. You don’t need to have any qualifications or previous work experience to apply for our internships, but you may be asked to demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English. If you haven’t thought about exploring a career in property before, why not give it a go – we’d love to hear from you!
