This could be your next move!

Here at North Bristol NHS Trust, we run an established OSCE Education Programme to support nurses in their preparation for the NMC OSCE.

Each month, we welcome a group of internationally educated nurses onto the programme which is a great opportunity to meet other nurses on a similar journey to NMC registration. The programme consists of 15 study days, covering all the exam stations and allowing time for mock exams and time to practice skills with experienced OSCE facilitators.

The Trust will book and pay for your first attempt at the OSCE and will also arrange and pay for transportation to and from the exam. We are also able to offer a reimbursement package, offering repayment for:

  • NMC application fee
  • CBT exam payment
  • First year of NMC registration
  • Accommodation or relocation support may also be offered depending on qualifying criteria.
This opportunity can be offered once you have completed your CBT exam and meet the NMC English language requirements. We would then look forward to you joining other internationally educated nurses on the OSCE Education Programme.

You must be an experienced international nurse who has completed their CBT and/or OET-IELTS exam (at least 1 must be complete to be eligible for this post)

You will begin in post working as a Senior Healthcare support worker while you complete any remaining tests (CBT, OET etc)
  • To carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal supervision, including blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate, glucose monitoring, collection and testing of urine samples / faecal samples / sputum samples and wound swabs ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care at all times. NB: this list is not exhaustive and will vary depending on area of work.
  • Participate in patient assessment providing high quality holistic patient care and escalating concerns about patients to other clinical staff
  • Practice safe standards of care to patients following Trust guidelines and policies and policies and be able to concentrate for periods throughout the day with occasional interruptions.
  • Provide clinical care in accordance with the infection prevention and health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the work environment in line with Trust infection control and patient safety policies
  • Develop the skills to actively facilitate self-care and independence with patients.
  • Promote health education specific to the clinical area and in line with national and local policies.
During the week, you will have a mixture of study days and clinical shifts which will allow you to consolidate your learning in the clinical area.

Once you have passed the OSCE , you will be uplifted to a Band 5 role.

11. Maintain accurate records relating to communication with patients, relatives, and members of the Multidisciplinary team regarding all aspects of care demonstrating a range of appropriate communication skills.
12. Ensuring equipment and stores are well maintained, taking appropriate action if the equipment is faulty
13. Work effectively as part of a team.
