We're seeking a senior events professional to use their strategic and creative skills and experience to lead the internal events team for one of the most innovative organisations today!

This is a great opportunity to design and deliver a program of events that help drive connection, collaboration and knowledge sharing across multiple locations, time zones and disciplines. Our internal events program will also play a key role in helping to shape and amplify the culture of the recently formed Google DeepMind unit of 2000+ individuals and celebrate key moments for the organisation at an important stage of our journey and the wider AI sector.

The Role

We are looking for a senior events professional to help evolve and lead our internal events program and team.

The program may include conferences, town halls, hackathons, team offsites, social events, DEI and wellbeing events, on campus collaborations and celebrations. These events will be a mix of in person, hybrid and virtual events and may take place in our Google offices or offsite at suitable external venues.

You will be an expert partner to multiple teams including Internal Communications, People & Culture, and Research, and build strong and trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

The Internal Events Lead will report into and partner with the Head of Events and Production and lead a team of 3 event managers with additional support from local admin partners, office managers and external agencies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan and execute Google DeepMind's internal events strategy
  • Identify opportunities to increase impact of our internal-facing events and establish success metrics
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with senior internal stakeholders and provide expert partnership to teams across Google DeepMind
  • Develop creative and innovative event design proposals with external agencies/partners which maximise engagement
  • Employ best practice in event management to ensure flawless event delivery
  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies where possible
  • Maintain curiosity in the AI community, industry and events landscape using insights to inform our event engagement strategy
  • People management and development of 2/3 x event managers/specialists
  • Agency/Vendor sourcing
  • Budget management
  • On site event management including international travel as needed
  • Ensure events are compliant with all health and safety, regulatory, security and other governance

About You

In order to set you up for success as an Internal Events Lead at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive senior level events experience including in house role(s)
  • Technology events background with good understanding and interest in the AI landscape
  • Demonstrable experience of developing events strategy and leading a global events program with events of varying scope and scale
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Creative approach with track record of developing innovative complex events from concept to execution
  • Thought leadership in internal events, engagement and culture
  • Ability to build and nurture influential relationships with senior stakeholders and partners
  • Confident presenter and communicator
  • Curiosity regarding latest event industry trends and the wider AI landscape
  • Recent people management and team development experience
  • Agency/Vendor hiring and management experience with network of contacts
  • Budget management skills
  • Comfortable navigating and leading through change and ambiguity
  • Collaborative and inclusive approach
  • Knowledge of health and safety, security, protocols and regulatory requirements
  • Flexibility to travel as needed
