Job description
Our Internal Auditor & Controls Manager is a senior function reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will work to support the Bank in its completion of thematic audits and strategic projects, aimed at compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate and industry standards.
Responsibilities
· You will work to support the further improvement and strengthening of the governance framework (policies, standards, governance structures and artefacts) to enhance UBA UK’s governance arrangements and satisfy evolving regulatory expectations.
· You will continuously monitor and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of governance committees and the Bank’s overall governance control environment, including self-assessments and self-awareness. Enable management to identify control deficiencies and inefficiencies.
· While maintaining independence, you will work closely with the key stakeholders on the early identification of emerging control issues, and report them in a timely manner to Senior Management
· You will initiate improvement actions and will support the key stakeholders in their delivery of effective governance arrangements on an ongoing basis.
· You will work closely with the outsourced Internal Audit service provider, from planning to reporting, ensuring that outsourced audits are completed timely and within budget.
· You will ensure that the planning, organization, standards and deliverables produced by the outsourced auditors, meet expectations of the Regulators as well as Bank’s management and the terms of the Service Agreement.
· You will be expected to support Senior Management during thematic regulatory reviews.
· You will assist in finalising audit findings and use judgment to provide an overall opinion on the control environment by developing recommendations to strengthen internal controls,
· You will be required to remain up to date with evolving industry/regulatory changes impacting the business and to participate in and to present to the appropriate governance and control forums.

Qualifications
· CIA or equivalent with minimum 5 years’ experience working within the financial industry. Proven experience with internal audit methodology and applying concepts in audit delivery and execution is a must.
· Proven experience with regulatory audits and thematic reviews.
· Prior consultancy and project management experience is an advantage.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; adept at presenting complex and sensitive issues to senior management.
· Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and build partnerships with senior business and control partners.
· Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a keen interest in learning; effective under pressure.
