Job Description Summary

GE’s Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.

A one year in industry placement with us will give you a hands-on practical application of the theory from university. In the 12-month of the placement, you will gain invaluable skills and experience in covering different aspects within manufacturing business unit delivering products & systems to various customers in industry, oil & gas, marines, offshore etc. During this placement you will predominantly work with project management group learning various aspects of project delivery with interface to various departments like planning, engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance and supply chain.

You will be guided and supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will make sure that you make the best of your experience at GE Power Conversion.

Job Description

During your placement you will:

  • develop skills in overall project management and planning
  • develop basic understanding on contracts and how to manage scope, cost and timescales
  • learn how to effectively interface with various key functional departments in the business to meet customer requirements
  • learn systems, process, and operating rhythm required to drive the business
  • develop effective communication abilities
  • develop basic understanding of manufacturing process and daily management.

We are looking for undergraduates studying towards an Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering degree from an accredited university. The ideal candidate:

  • will have completed a minimum of 2 years of the undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of the placement.
  • must be enrolled at a UK university for the duration of your placement.
  • will have a passion for learning


The placement will start in July/August 2023.
