Expro is currently recruiting for the 2023 Apprentices’ intake to join a number of our Product Lines, all based in Aberdeen.
Apprenticeships at Expro
Apprentices at Expro follow the SEMTA (Science Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies Alliance) Modern Apprenticeship framework starting with a Level 2 at Tullos Training (EAL approved training centre), followed by a Level 3 within Expro. This vocational programme is combined with a third component, Further Education, which together adds up to two vocational awards (SVQ Level 2 and 3), an educational qualification and on successful completion the SEMTA Modern Apprenticeship (MA) Certificate.
Year 1: Typically comprises of the apprentice attending Tullos Training for approximately 40 weeks completing SVQ Level and obtaining an educational qualification, National Certificate (NC) in an Engineering Practice (Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering).
Years 2 to 4: Are generally spent within their assigned workshop maintenance product line, completing on the job and all Expro’s core and mandatory training.
During this period apprentices would obtain a SVQ Level 3 in an Engineering Practice at SCQF Level 6 (in the workplace with monitoring and assessments by a Tullos Training Officer) and on completion being awarded the SEMTA Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship Certification.
In addition, apprentices are expected to attend day release at a designated further education college (NESCOL or Tullos Training) for a minimum of 2 years obtaining a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in an Engineering Practice and in some instances, being sponsored to undertake a Diploma (HND).
Job Knowledge and Qualifications
- National 5 grades or expected grades of C or above in English, Maths and a Science subject.
- Experience with a hands on technical subject would be beneficial
- Interest/participation in a technical/mechanical extra-curricular activity is preferred
- Must have good communication skills
