We are now recruiting a Junior-Intermediate Interior Designer to join the PRPD team to fulfil a temporary role with the opportunity for a permanent position. This position is based at our corporate offices in Langley, BC. The interior designer would be expected to travel to and work from sites and the PRPD head office downtown Vancouver as required.
Reporting to the Director of Construction, as the Interior Designer you will have a range of responsibilities, including (but not limited to) space planning, finish selections, initiating and/or developing working drawings (CAD), pricing, as well as small project management.
The portfolio of properties includes commercial buildings, rental buildings and seniors housing
You will be highly creative with a strong collaborative sensibility and a commitment to team-based design excellence. You have highly developed interpersonal & communication skills and an ability to build lasting (internal & external) client relationships and can communicate effectively with numerous stakeholders.
In particular, you will possess a demonstrable awareness and understanding of the specific, unique conditions which require consideration when ensuring the provision of a high quality ‘home like’ environment for seniors, especially where a variety of care delivery systems are present.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities will be to oversee the accurate and timely translation of the Interior Design directives from the Director of Construction and others into schematic and design development packages. This would include:
- Develop conceptual space plans for test fit and schematic design purposes
- Coordination of schedule and budget (in collaboration with the Project Manager)
- Participate and/or lead the production of construction documentation (primarily in AutoCAD, Revit and/or SketchUp platforms), including presentations.
- Proven capacity to coordinate with consultants and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives and participate in construction administration.
- Site coordination and deficiencies inspections (with the Project Manager)
QUALIFICATIONS:
· An Interior Design Diploma from a recognized institution (e.g. BCIT, KPU)
· 2 or more years experience in commercial interior design.
· General Knowledge of the BC Building Code
· Knowledge of standard construction practices
· Demonstrable understanding of construction drawings and millwork packages
· Space planning and finish selections
· Working drawings
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Demonstrable skills in AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp technologies
- Demonstrable skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Experience with/knowledge of the different types of care environments; specifically, how finishes/furnishings/care delivery impact resident experience.
- Some experience with/knowledge of differing facets of seniors’ health (i.e. dementia) preferred.
- Highly developed written/oral communication skills
- Good work ethic and self-motivation
- Proven deadline and project management abilities
