Job description
Bring your passion, ideas and purpose to life in a company that can truly help you achieve your full potential.
Abbott is about the power of health. For more than 135 years, Abbott has been helping people reach their potential — because better health allows people and communities to achieve more. With a diverse, global network serving customers in more than 160 countries, we create new solutions — across the spectrum of health, around the world, for all stages of life. Whether it’s next-generation diagnostics, life-changing devices, science-based nutrition, or novel reformulations, we are advancing some of the most innovative and revolutionary technologies in healthcare, helping people live their best lives through better health. Joining us, you can shape your career as you shape the future of healthcare.
World Leader in Blood Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.
Abbott’s Diabetes Care division has a clear vision for its sensor technology business. Building on recent capital investment and growth in the people and facilities in Witney, we will continue to expand and develop our High-Volume manufacturing facility in the years ahead. Part of this vision is our Operations Graduate Development Programme. Now entering its 10th year, we have opportunities for an Autumn 2023 start for a Science, Technology or Engineering graduate (grade 2:1 or higher).
Graduates who join on this bespoke scheme experience ground-up product and manufacturing knowledge in addition to a rotation programme though a number of important technical and engineering-based disciplines. During the graduate programme, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the sensor business ranging from demand through to shipping from ADC into our partnered Third Party Manufacturers (TPMs).
This is a small and flexible programme, based on 6 monthly rotations. Your career with us will commence working directly with the FreeStyle Libre sensor product, learning the manufacturing process. This will be followed with a series of 5 rotations across functions such as Technical, Operations Planning, Quality Assurance, Project Management and Engineering. An important element of this graduate programme is to enable you to develop your people management skills as well as your technical and process expertise, and to support this, you will be given a managerial rotation during the programme.
On completion of the 3-year Programme, you will move into a role based on your strengths, skills and knowledge acquired during the Graduate Programme. Support offered during the Programme includes our Buddy, Coaching and Mentoring Programmes to support you during each phase of your development.
Abbott offers an attractive and competitive benefits package including a defined-contribution pension scheme, share ownership, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits package. Here at Witney, we also like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including sustainability campaigns, couch to 5k campaigns, health and wellness activities, yoga and more!
