As our Interaction Designer you will work a hybrid pattern and will be on site at Exeter HQ approximately once a month. You can choose to work more frequently in our state-of-the-art office if you'd prefer. As our Interaction Designer, your starting salary will be £32100.00. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minimum. Our 2022-25 pay award means the salary will increase to £33559.00 from 1st April 2024, and you will be able to progress towards £36000.00 over time. In addition you will be paid £2500.00 annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. Whilst in post, you will be paid this market driven allowance from April 2022 until March 2024 in your monthly pay. Your total reward package is potentially worth up to £47196.00 annually, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus and employer pension contributions. You'll be at the heart of our dedicated User Experience team, using user centred design, agile methodologies and UX best practice to build and support digital solutions for our users. As our Interaction Designer , in the UX team, you will: Create low and high-fidelity prototypes and designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes Work collaboratively with agile development teams to create and evolve new digital products and services Interpret evidence-based research and incorporate this into your work Present designs and insights to stakeholders, teams and users to help align and inform decision-making Champion user-centred design practices and represent the user in a multidisciplinary team Be an active member of the UX practice to help embed and grow a user-centred culture across the organisation Think strategically to respond to changes in technology and evolving user needs Recommend the best tools and approaches to understand the user story Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities * Evidence- and context-based design. Following user-centred design methodologies, you can absorb large amounts of information and use it to produce simple designs. Prototyping. You can approach prototyping as a team activity, actively soliciting prototypes and testing with others. You can establish design patterns and iterate them. You can use a variety of prototyping methods and choose the most appropriate. User focus. Informed by user research, you can represent users internally. You understand what problem the team is trying to solve. You can explain the difference between user needs and the desires of the user. You can champion user research to focus on all users. Agile working. You can demonstrate experience working in Agile, and an awareness of Agile tools and how to use them. You can adapt and reflect and be resilient. Communicating between the technical and non-technical. You can listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders, and interpret them in a way that is clear to both audiences. You can effectively manage expectations. You know how to manage discussions within the team and engage stakeholders. Community collaboration. You can work collaboratively in a team and can also network with people outside of your team.
