Purpose of the post
The Intelligence Hub is primarily responsible for delivering the IMA’s monitoring function by;
- Gathering timely, relevant and credible intelligence from a wide range of sources.
- Adopting analytical techniques in order to identify potential systemic issues.
- Using insights gained to inform key decision makers across the IMA.
The team is also responsible for reviewing complaints about the delivery by the UK government and public authorities of the above commitments to citizens’ rights, including residency; work; social security and equal treatment.
The Intelligence Officer will undertake research using a wide variety of sources to assess and evaluate information and inform the creation of intelligence products to support decision making and the identification of possible systemic issues for consideration.
The Intelligence Officer may also be responsible for managing a team of Administrators who will handle the initial assessment of complaints and intelligence received by the IMA.
The post holder may also conduct day to day line management activities such as providing oversight of workloads and the timely assessment of complaints and intelligence received.
The work will require close attention to detail, ability to assimilate information and produce clear and evidenced reports.
Responsibilities
- Conduct qualitive and research to produce intelligence and/ or inform analytical products, including collecting, collating and evaluating information from a wide variety of sources.
- Collaborating, engaging and corresponding with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including members of the public, legal advisers, complainants, non-government organisations and lobby groups.
- Completing intelligence reports using the National Intelligence Model;
- Distributing information and communications in an appropriate manner, e.g. paper, e-mail and to the correct area of the IMA;
- Maintaining accurate complaint information on a case management system and intelligence database;
- Providing guidance and support to the administrators on assessment of complaints and intelligence received.
- Preparing, maintaining and collating complaint records, files and management information, in accordance with organisational procedures;

Essential Skills
- Strong verbal and written skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals;

- Proven skills in operational background and/or dynamic and complex environment when working under pressure;
- Experience of working flexibly as a member of a team to achieve performance targets;
- A strong commitment to delivering a high-quality service and an ability to apply learning from previous experiences and on the job activities;

- Ability to co-ordinate several activities at pace and in parallel.
- Accuracy and attention to detail;
- Good level of IT skills including proficiency in MS Office Word, and basic skills in Excel;
- Line management experience or proven skills in operational background and/or willingness to develop this skill and/or experience;
- Willing to complete intelligence analysis training.
