JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS & RESPONSIBLE TO:

The Data and Intelligence Analyst reports directly to the Director of Operations and Intelligence.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data and Intelligence Analyst will play an integral role on data management and analytics of the organization. Working closely with the Director of Operations and Intelligence, the incumbent will leverage a deep familiarity of analytic methods, sound understanding of data visualization, and design techniques to provide strategic advice and guidance to the team. They will also be somebody who can explain complex, data-driven relationships and concepts in simple, everyday terms for both staff and funding/community partners.

The successful candidate will represent the Core Guiding and Service Principles of Downtown
Community Safety Partnership in the community and will be an approachable individual, helping all DCSP s taff to engage in positive interactions with the community and fostering a sense of safety for all.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research and Analytics

  • Act as a subject matter expert in database management of DCSP;
  • Upkeep and develop data visualization dashboards to share frameworks and insights across the organization;
  • Build deep industry-based intuition that will be leveraged to influence future process roadmaps;
  • Analyze current organizational performance and support forecasting activities by Managers and

Directors;

  • Conduct ad-hoc data analysis and proactively identify areas for operational improvement;
  • Conduct data analysis and write reports as required for the Board of Directors and community partners;
  • Continuously keep the DCSP Command App updated and functional based on staff needs and feedback;
  • Conduct research related to areas such as community safety and program evaluation;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and Intelligence.

Routinely engaging with organizational tools

  • Using Tableau business intelligence platform to create heatmaps and visualize operations/key performance indicators for management and staff;
  • Using Tableau to upkeep existing organizational dashboards to continuously improve operations;
  • Improving and modifying DCSP’s reporting tool in App Armor (no app development experience required);
  • Using Microsoft Excel to generate charts, visualize data trends, and basic data analysis;
  • Using IBM SPSS 29 for more advanced data analysis, as required (e.g. regression analyses, hypothesis-testing tools such as ANOVA, etc.).

Engaging with staff and community

  • Representing DCSP on external committees and working groups, as required;
  • Supporting DCSP managers and directors with ad hoc analysis and research requests;

  • Present complex data relationships in layperson and intuitive terms for DCSP staff and external stakeholders;
  • Advise the Director of Operations and Intelligence on matters pertaining to streamlining and increasing the effectiveness of operations, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary educational background in data science, statistics, or social sciences with a coursework in quantitative analysis (such as sociology, economics, or psychology).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct both simple and advanced statistical analyses using Microsoft

Excel and IBM SPSS, either through coursework, prior employment, or other experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to re-structure, clean, and analyze data of varying messiness (e.g. non- linearity, missing values, etc).
  • Strong verbal, written, research, and communication skills.
  • The ability to explain, in both written and verbal communication, complex concepts and statistical interpretations in layperson terms.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector and/or with program evaluation is considered an asset.
  • Experience with data science and warehousing programs including (but not limited to) Informatica

Data Intelligence, SQL, and/or Amazon Redshift is considered an asset.

  • Can work independently and as part of a team both in an office environment and from home, as called for by the nature of the work.
  • Be passionate about helping to keep those who work, live, and visit downtown safe.

Salary: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
