The Insurance Manager helps people with sight loss to live the life they choose by developing and delivering the insurance strategy for the organisation.


The role provides expert advice on all insurance-related issues.

  • Manages the handling of all insurance-related aspects of incidents and claims.
  • Manages key supplier and service relationships, particularly with insurers and brokers.
  • Raises awareness of insurance issues within Guide Dogs to ensure compliance and forward focus.

For this role you’ll be working 35 hours per week, worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. We are looking for you to attend the office at least 2 days per week, the remainder of your week may be spent working from home.

Candidate profile

Candidate requirements

To be able to fulfil this role, the skills and experience we are looking for in a potential candidate include;


Essential

  • Professional qualification recognised by the Chartered Institute of Insurance (i.e., ACII).
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on delivering outputs to the highest quality standards.
  • Experience in the insurance sector at a senior level either in professional services organisation or with an insurer (underwriting) or insurance broker (senior client advisory) role.
  • Proven experience at a similar level, with management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of insurance law, contracts of insurance and underwriting techniques.
  • Experience of handling all categories of claims management and dealing with complex cases.
  • Experience of acting as a referral point for all insurance issues and providing expert advice on such issues.
  • Proven experience of coaching, motivating, and managing staff.
  • Demonstrable up to date understanding and knowledge of legislation and regulation impacting on claims.
