WHAT TO EXPECT
We’re looking for an Insurance Manger to help co-design and deliver our global insurable risk program. The role (in conjunction with the Head of Insurance) will be responsible for the progressive management of our insurance program, our mission is to execute balance sheet protection whilst minimising the external costs of risk.
This role manages a specialist team in the purchase of effective risk transfer contracts, management of self-funded losses and provision of risk management/claims handling services.
You will be working in an industry which will have greater progression in the next 5 years than it's ever experienced before. It will challenge you and afford opportunities to build experience in areas which may not have been looked at outside of Automotive.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Manage the development and implementation of the Global Insurance Programme, both centralised and local, ensuring alignment with strategic business expectations and statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert advice, information and training on the identification and management of risks and to provide input into the JLR’s corporate governance processes.
- Identify new insurable risks & changes within the business and making recommendations for effective management of the insurable risks whether this be through traditional insurance methods, alternate risk vehicles or retention of insurable risk.
- Effective relationship management and negotiations with external parties such as insurance brokers, insurers, reinsurers, legal advisors, loss adjusters, risk consultants, captive managers and risk/trade bodies.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of suppliers, through conducting regular review meetings with a view to continually improving our processes.
- Ensure the risk management and insurance products and services maintain efficiency in terms of processes and cost.
- Oversee the claims notification process across a wide array of insurances. This includes ensuring any claims are notified in line with the relevant timescales, some of these can be highly sensitive in nature.
- Define and deploy risk mitigation processes across the Group e.g. Property Loss Control, Contract Reviews, Insurable Risk Reviews.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in insurance (we’re open to insurer, broker and in-house insurance backgrounds). You will demonstrate expert knowledge and experience in advising in general classes of insurance stretching from liability, motor & property through to trade credit & D&O insurances.
- With strong contract experience (both commercial contracts and insurance policy wording) evaluate and advise on contracts as well as negotiating terms, balancing risk vs reward and analysing/modelling insurance cover to mitigate exposure.
- Working knowledge of Global Insurance Programmes, deductible management, self-insured claims and contractual indemnity. Including global insurance program compliance.
- Experience of people management, including building collaborative relationships and coaching direct reports.
- Ability to constructively challenge and question, coupled with a logical thought process to critically assess and resolve complex business issues.
- Significant experience of working and influencing cross-functionally and managing relationships with external parties, such as insurance brokers, insurers, reinsurers, legal advisors, loss adjusters, risk consultants, captive managers and risk/trade bodies.
