Job description
LCP is an award-winning actuarial and analytics consultancy providing advice on insurance, pensions, investments, employee benefits, energy and health. We are a team of over 950.
Are you excited to use your actuarial expertise to help clients better understand and manage their risks? If the answer's yes, then come and join the insurance consulting team at LCP! We are passionate about supporting our clients across all areas of actuarial and risk consultancy, and are keen to work with people who share our passion.
To give you a flavour of the types of work you may be involved with, some of our recent projects include signing off on reserves of over £50 billion across a broad range of portfolios, within and outside of the Lloyd's market, in the UK and beyond. We have also advised over 70 firms on capital and risk management, including internal model validation. If that wasn't enough we are also acting as the Independent expert on more than 15 part VII or Section 13 transfers. Finally, we launched LCP InsurSight in April 2020 which is used by some of the largest insurers in the world to quickly and efficiently analyse over £100bn reserves.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for you to help us support our clients across all areas of actuarial and risk consultancy. Your role will be varied, and includes a mixture of client facing consulting, in-house client support and industry research.

- Enthusiastic about new projects and opportunities, taking a proactive approach and getting involved
- Working directly (virtually and onsite) with clients either independently or as part of a wider LCP team
- Demonstrating excitement about new areas of research, e.g. machine learning, climate change or cyber risk, taking the initiative to extend your own knowledge on an ongoing basis
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients on a day-to-day basis, and taking ownership of the client relationship
- Drafting high-quality communications to clients (formal reports, presentation slides, day-to-day communications)
- Presenting confidently in client meetings and communicating effectively with clients on the phone and face-to-face
- Supporting in tenders and pitches for new business, working as part of a team
- Contributing to LCP’s thought leadership, and developing your personal profile in the market, writing articles or blogs, presenting at conferences and participating in relevant industry working parties and conferences
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the insurance market and particularly regulatory developments
- Keen to share your knowledge by training more junior members of the team where required
- Working within LCP’s internal professional standards and external professional guidance
What skills and experience do you need?

- Ideally, you have experience in capital modelling, experience in pricing, IFRS17, risk and/or machine learning techniques is a plus but not essential
- You can explain technical matters clearly and simply, including to non-experts. You have a good eye for detail, but can balance this with being able to identify and focus on the most important issues
- You can give concise summaries of analysis, but you’re also comfortable answering detailed technical questions
- You have a natural curiosity for problem-solving and are enthusiastic to get involved in new projects
- Commercial awareness
- Ability to see things from the client's , or colleague’s, perspective and adapt your approach accordingly
- You’re proactive with clients and colleagues, driving work forward and contributing new ideas
- A proven track record of running multiple projects concurrently, being able to delegate tasks effectively, looking for opportunities to improve efficiency and processes and re-prioritising work where needed. You can also work to tight deadlines when required
