Overview
Sing Education are looking for a reliable, confident and inspirational small group and one-to-one teacher able to teach:
Guitar and ukulele and keyboard
Candidates will be around Grade 6 level minimum with a degree in music or a related field (i.e. musical theatre/music education) to join our team of specialist music teachers.
Teaching days: 1 day per week (Thursday or Friday) – West London
Instruments: Guitar & Ukulele & Keyboard
Rate of Pay: Freelance basis - £23-£27 per hour, on a 5 point pay scale (progressive, moving up after each 12 months of service, following successful managerial performance review).
What we do
Sing Education source and train music teachers, develop teaching resources and provide management and consultancy services to schools in London, Yorkshire and Kent. We enable children to encounter the transformative power of music in their lives, by experiencing the joy of singing and making music collectively at school.
Details:
- Weekly teaching, during school hours - 9am-3pm term time
- Permanent placement in a Sing Education primary school/s
- Teaching 1-day per week (with a view to increase if desired)
- Teaching locations: primary school in West London (other areas across London a future possibility if desired)
- Must have (or be willing to apply for through us) an Enhanced DBS Disclosure
- Communicate professionally and clearly to represent Sing Education within a school setting

Essential
- University graduate with a good degree in music or a related field
Desirable
- Evidence of further professional development
- QTS
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Ability to lead small group (up to 5 people) and one-to-one lessons
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Basic keyboard skills if not first instrument
- A degree of ICT literacy and ability to use online systems such as G Suite and other communication platforms
Relevant Experience
Essential
- Classroom or one-to-one teaching experience
- Experience of working with children or young people in a teaching or leadership capacity.
Desirable
Experience of working with children with SEND
Personal Qualities
- Ability to lead and inspire a passion for music in pupils
- A firm approach to discipline, and good management skills
- The ability to work well as part of both Sing Education and in-school teams
- The ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate
- A sense of humour
- An ability to generate enthusiasm for music in the wider life of the school
- A high level of personal organisation and good communication skills
- A commitment to personal and company wider development

Part-time hours. Can currently offer one day's teaching a week, (school day) with the possibility of more hours going forward if desired.
