Job summary
This is an opportunity to work as a dispenser in our friendly rural practice in Harbury, with a branch surgery in Bishop's Itchington. You will primarily be working at Harbury and only at Bishop's Itchington when required. The successful applicant will work alongside our GP Partners, Practice Manager and the practice team, to help us achieve our aim to deliver the high standard of care that our patients deserve.
17.5 hrs a week on a Monday and Tuesday

Main duties of the job
You will dispense medication safely and accurately to patients at the practice eligible to receive their medication from our in house dispensary.
The role includes receiving requests, processing, dispensing and handing medication to approximately half of our patients for either acute or long term conditions. You will deal with ordering and accepting stock including refrigerated items and controlled drugs. You will liaise with patients, other practice staff, and other NHS settings.

Harbury Surgery is situated close to Leamington Spa and Southam run by 3 GP Partners and supported by a team of 22. We are a friendly GP practice with 6000 patients across two sites looking to expand our team.

Job responsibilities
To ensure that all medications are dispensed in a safe and timely manner adhering to all legal requirements and Practice Standard Operating Procedures.
Provide a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice Team.
General Duties
Ensure timely, safe and accurate dispensing of medications and issuing of repeat prescriptions via EMIS
Ensure prescriptions are collated and endorsed
Participate in overtime rota to cover for holidays and sickness
Participate in staff meetings and / or training, as required
Ensure dispensing procedures are carried out adhering to Practice Standard Operating Procedures Complete significant event forms correctly and in a timely manner
Adhere to health and safety guidelines
Maintain efficient, cost effective stock control, minimising wastage through out-of-date stock
Participate in audits as necessary
Dispensary duties
Receive, record and dispense repeat medication requests and issue repeat prescriptions
Hand out prescriptions and dispensed items and collect payment as necessary
Collect and record prescription charges
Deal with queries relating to prescriptions as necessary
Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift as necessary according to procedures
Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery
Ensure refrigerated items are stored correctly and maintain temperature control record book
Ensure incoming stock is dealt with promptly
Liaise with patients, providing advice and guidance as required to promote compliance
Maintain high standards of cleanliness on shelves and work surfaces and ensure dispensary equipment is kept clean and in good working order
Other duties
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
Promote a professional approach at all times by choice of attire, attitude and example shown to patients and staff both in and out of the Practice
Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
Good standard of general education GCSE Mathematics C or above GCSE English C or above
NVQ2 Dispensing
