Instrument Technician

We have a new opportunity for an Instrument technician to join our team here at GSK. You will be responsible for supporting Instrumentation matters on the Worthing Secondary site - Safety, Quality, Technical support and Maintenance. The Instrument Technician provides technical knowledge for Instrumentation to projects, plant modifications, continuous improvement, EHS, Quality Investigations and maintenance operations.

In this role you will

  • Contributes towards the installation, commissioning of new control systems.

  • Provides continuing support for all instrumentation and controls on site ensuring that 24hr operations run efficiently and with minimal downtime.

  • To deliver the Instrumentation planned maintenance for Utilities and Production areas. This will mainly include calibration of instrumentation using the site CMX paperless calibration system.

  • To work in accordance with the sites EHS requirements - Risk Assessment and Method statements, Permit to Work.

  • Requires a high degree of problem solving and the ability to troubleshoot, facilitate decisions and weigh-up advantages and disadvantages in order to provide solutions.

  • Support for continually improving plant, equipment and maintenance techniques in order to deliver better, faster, lower cost products.

  • Support for failure, safety or quality investigations and recommending improvements in design, procedures or maintenance practices.

  • Implement Maintenance Improvement techniques as required.

  • Ensure that Instrumentation and Control Systems are maintained in a compliant manner following site procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Proven technical knowledge of manufacturing plant and/or packaging equipment instrumentation and control.

  • Educated to HNC/HND or equivalent as a minimum.

  • Hands on experience of instrument calibration. Preferably using an electronic calibration management system.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience involving maintenance of instrumentation in a regulated cGMP environment or other regulated industry.
