Creative Writing Day Camp Instructor
Job Description
Creative Writing Instructors are responsible for planning and implementing Book Worms and Creative Writing camps; ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to; supervising groups of children and youth ages 9-14; organizing camp supplies and equipment; set-up and clean-up duties; as well as other duties as required for camps to operate smoothly.
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Full-time Hours: 40+ hours per week
Seasonal contract running 9 weeks between July 4 – September 1, 2023
Mandatory pre-camp in-person training:
- Saturday, June 3 (all day)
- Sunday, June 4 (all day)
- Thursday, June 15 (evening)
- Saturday, June 17 (all day)
- Thursday, June 22 (evening)
Wage: $15.65 – $25.00 per hour
Qualifications
- You have a passion for storytelling and writing!
- Ongoing personal and/or professional creative writing practice
- Related education an asset
- Previous work or volunteer experience with children and youth in group settings
- Relevant certifications: Certificate in Creative Writing, High Five, etc.

Prerequisites
- Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current Standard First Aid Certification with CPR-C + AED
- Ability to use personal cell phone for work purposes, including data required

Group interviews will take place on April 3 in the early evening or April 4 in the early afternoon; applicants selected for an interview must be available on one of these dates. Following the group interview stage, individual interviews may be requested.
