Job description

This is an important role that works in widening access to and outreach from Oxford and is responsible for leading on ensuring Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach (UAO) department’s access and outreach programmes are developed and tested to ensure they meet the programmes’ agreed aims and success measures and that perceived benefits are realised.
The post-holder will have knowledge of education and how people learn across all phases of education, and a passion for supporting learners from backgrounds that are socio-economically disadvantaged and under-represented at Oxford.
Furthermore, the post-holder will have overall responsibility for the design, creation and evaluation of comprehensive and leading-edge learning tools that educate and instruct specified groups of people, from school children to their teachers, parents/carers and members of their community. The role will include responsibility for the development and review of each access programme’s business case, produced in collaboration with colleagues from across UAO and for seeking approval for each case from the Director. Also, the post-holder will lead the development of the work of the Outreach Learning Design Team (UAO’s creative hub) and this could range from using technology to support raising attainment in schools to summer schools in Oxford.
Each widening access and outreach programme will contribute to the delivery of the University’s’ Access and Participation Plan, agreed by the higher education regulator in England (the Office for Studennts) APP, and the University of Oxford’s Strategic Plan https://www.ox.ac.uk/about/organisation/strategic-plan-2018-24 . The UAO department is committed to promoting equality, encouraging aspiration and raising the attainment of people interested in studying at Oxford and higher education in general.
The post-holder will be part of the wider UAO department and will collaborate with the other UAO teams, including Outreach Delivery, Information, Communication and Marketing, Evaluation and Analysis, International Recruitment, Admissions Operations and Administration, to ensure each programme benefits from the wider skills, knowledge and expertise in UAO.
