The Educational Assistant will be responsible for providing a supportive learning environment for approximately 50 Defiance and Academy students/players. This role will ensure that education is at the heart of Sounders FC's operational plans to support the learning, advancement, and welfare of young players. The anticipated schedule will be Tuesday – Thursday from approximately 9:00am – 3:30pm at the direction of the Head of Academy Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Onsite to support Academy and MLS Next Pro players/students during scheduled school hours.
- Liaison between the club, various online schools, and parents/guardians to support a positive connection.
- Track weekly attendance, provide monthly progress reports and attend semi-annual conferences.
- Assist players with proctoring tests and supporting all aspects of their education.
- Manage the club's database to create and maintain confidential record-keeping systems in order to keep up to date information, track players' academic progress and welfare, and report progress.
- Collaborate with all members of the Academy team in the interests of player welfare.
- Support and prepare students/players for further education (college) and career prospects with a sense of service to the wider community.
- Encourage creativity and independent learning while bearing in mind the value of teamwork.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working within education preferred
- Specialization in teaching History and English preferred
- Must be a clear, concise communicator
- Strong organizational, IT and presentation skills
- Collaborative team member with the ability to drive and manage tasks
- Dedicated to self-improvement and personal development
- Fluency in Spanish language is a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position will work in-person from the Sounders FC training facility at Starfire Sports in Tukwila, WA.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, and holidays as needed.
- Must be fully vaccinated at the time of hire and follow all club and league COVID-19 protocols.
- Must reside within Washington state upon date of hire.
- Must be able to facilitate own local travel.
- Potential travel out of state 2x a year to support academy teams during competitions.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
COMPENSATION
- The hourly rate for the position is $20 - 25/hr.
