Overall Purpose of the Job:
The Institute Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of The Manchester China Institute (MCI) through efficient and effective management of the Institute, the development of projects from conception through implementation, and the provision of strategic direction and guidance to the Institute Director, such as:
- To contribute strategic and operational advice and guidance to the University on its China-related activities.
- To lead and manage the operational / administrative aspects of MCI, and to deliver its strategic goals and operational plans.
- To develop strong relationships with the local Greater Manchester government, agencies, research institutions, Chinese community representatives, and wider business community.
The Institute Manager will report to the Head of Research Operations in The School of Social Sciences (SOSS), with operational accountability to the MCI Director.
